Reflect
The one who calls you to a life of obedience is the one who knows your name. The one who calls you to a life of faith is the one who knows when and where you live. The one who calls you to trust him, is the one who has given you the skills and talents that are needed at this time, and this place, where you live – just as he gave Jeremiah the gift of speech to prophesy to the people of Jerusalem. The one who calls you to live a life of holiness, is the holy one who shed his blood for your sins so that you might be washed spotless and pure. The one who says do not be afraid of those around you, is the one who knows your weaknesses and fears. He is the one who was tempted in every way as you were and yet was without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
Why are you still sitting around waiting to do what God has called you to do? Now is the time to step forward in obedience! Energetically and enthusiastically move forward with the strength that God supplies (God has given you just the right amount of strength for the tasks you have to do), so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ (see 1 Peter 4:11).
In your obedience, you demonstrate to the world that there is one true God, and that their idols are worthless. By not being afraid, you demonstrate to the world that they can trust in the Lord with all their heart and soul and mind, and that God is sufficient to protect them from the evil in the world around them. Be careful not to impose your will or desires on the outcome of the tasks God enables you to do. For God will accomplish what God desires to accomplish.
Respond
Lord God, my Creator, who knew me before I was born, and chose me for this day and this place, I am scared to step out in faith to obey you. Forgive me for my doubts and fears. Cleanse me so that my words and actions are pure in your sight. I choose by faith to use the talents and skills you have blessed me with, where you have placed me, as a testimony to the nations. Amen.
