Come Praise the Lord
1 All of you nations,
come praise the Lord!
Let everyone praise him.
2God's love for us is wonderful;
his faithfulness never ends.
Shout praises to the Lord!

Sometimes life is reduced to the simplest of common denominators.
For instance, there was this day – a long grey day in a long grey week, week six of chemotherapy. The new drug they had said would be easier wasn’t. It knocked me to the ground and stomped on me until every bone ached. I was seriously thinking about cancelling the next dose. I just didn’t think I could do it.
But late that afternoon a thin beam of light pushed through the clouds, through my living room window, and along a slim tendril growing out of a small spider plant. The tendril had looked so fragile as it reached out – pale and oh so thin. But when that beam of light touched it, it glowed, illuminating the tiny white flowers that had just bloomed. That ethereal light took my breath away. And hope blossomed.
Hope. At that moment it was a living dimension – a shaft of real light that slipped into my living room at just at the right moment. At that moment I realized the light of life, the light of hope, Jesus himself, was right there with me.
I was left with that simplest of common denominators, truth – a truth that raises you up and makes you praise the Lord, because you know down into the depths of your being that God loves you beyond measure. “… and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.” (v 2)
It’s true. It’s really true.

Heavenly Father, we praise your name and thank you for your faithfulness to us. We thank you that even in the most difficult of circumstances you will never leave us. We thank you for the ways in which you lift us up and keep us close. Amen.
