An Amazing Glimpse of Glory

New Testament Reflection

A trash city was the last place I expected to see God’s glory. Our missions team had just shown the Jesus Film to 250 people who live in a garbage dump in Mexico. After the movie, my wife and daughter and I shared our testimonies and invited these people to receive Christ. Hundreds came forward to pray with us! A local pastor prayed for many of them to be healed, and we saw people jumping up and walking after years of illness. It was truly amazing.

Burning Coals

It’s easy to read this passage and think that it’s solely about you, your enemies, and your beef – that is, the issue between you, though it could also be the food you’re serving them if you take this proverb literally. But the thing is, this proverb isn’t about you. And it’s not about your enemies either. It’s about God’s glory. Isn’t that what life always comes down to, if you look hard enough?

As the vision of chapters 8 and 9 continues, Ezekiel sees the mobile chariot-throne with the Lord’s glory that he had seen in chapter 1 (vv 15, 20, 22). What is significant is that the Lord’s glory is progressively moving out of the Temple.
